Summer Headscarf Trends for Hair Loss

With temperatures rising and Memorial Day Weekend a couple days away, it's time to start thinking about your summer hair. In the salon, I've had a lot of requests for shorter and more thinned out haircuts as the temperature (and humidity!) in New Orleans has hit the 90s (but feels like 100). But what about trichsters (people with trichotillomania) or people with severe hair loss? When it's hot outside and all you're worried about is covering up bald or thin spots - how do you wear your hair? Look no further - summer headscarves are here to help!

I've put together a list of different summer headscarf looks that are sure to cover up any and all bald spots while looking stylish!

The Boho

All you need for this style is a chic scarf and a rubber band! Just tie the rubber band in the middle of the headscarf and you're on your way to one boho look!

The Rosie the Riveter

One of my favorites! This is my go-to style on Mondays while I'm running errands and cleaning my apartment. It's super cute and keeps any unruly pieces of hair out of your face.

The Pirate

Is it the pirate or the backwards bandana? You can wear this style with your hair down or in braids.

Long Hair on the Loose

For women who like to show off the length of their hair, this style is for y'all! You get the coverage you need while keeping your hair down - talk about the best of both worlds.

The Scarf & Bun

For all my fellow trichsters who dream about wearing their hair up in a bun - look no further! I love this style because it gives you a lot of coverage while your hair is pulled back.

Short Hair Don't Care

Who says short-haired girls can't wear headscarves? Just like this model, try a bright scarf to add some color to your outfit.

The Alicia Keys

Every time I see Alicia Keys wear her headscarf, I'm in awe. For those of use who need our headscarf to become a "hair jail," try out this look.

Tuck & Cover

Make your hair look fuller by pulling apart some of the hair at the crown and separating the hair that's tucked under. Another cute look that keeps your hair off your neck (something we're all desperate for as spring turns to summer).

Half-Up Tuck & Cover

Similar to the "Tuck & Cover," you can get a fuller look at the crown by pulling apart your hair. This style is better suited for women with thicker hair.

Braided Up-Do

Ever feel like your braids are too thin? This style will make them look thicker than you've ever imagined.

The Circle Knot

This style is great for anyone who struggles with a thin hairline or a side that is thinner than the other. Moving your circle knot to your thinnest section will help to balance your hair.
